Ali Bramwell :: artist

Ali Bramwell has been working as a sculptor since 1990 producing a range of exhibitions and public projects both nationally and internationally. She works with ideas of site and 'public' and thinks quite carefully about what that means:

" Working in public spaces means a variety of things to me. Public space is literally a physical place, the pavement, the mall, a bridge… and it is also the space of contention where issues are debated. Site work involves more than just physical structures, being alert to the ideas that concern people in a particular place is an important part of working in a site responsive way."

The work takes different forms as drawings, gestures, installations both ephemeral and permanent, sculptural objects and as actions that are perhaps more like performance. Recent projects include a permanent public sculpture work in Germany and exhibitions in Sweden, Bosnia, Australia, South Korea and Georgia as well as New Zealand.
