| The first job was taking a plaster mold of the original, which was green clay on an armature. We had to keep the clay wrapped so it wouldnt dry out. It was quite challenging planning our way around the shim stage and avoiding undercuts. This was a one chance job once that plaster coat went on there was no turning back.
A rubber mold would have been more forgiving with both undercuts and detail retention, but there was neither time or budget for a rubber mold this size. The client understood that the plaster waste mold would not be reusable, making this a very limited edition bronze! |
